G’day! Before we get into the tabletop gaming and hobby news I thought I’d share some life updates:
I fractured my foot (slipped on steps!). It’s healing but it’ll take a few weeks. In the meantime I’m hobbling around with crutches and a boot. Achievement unlocked.
You may have noticed the Glancing Hit Facebook page is gone. Long story short: Meta’s AI customer service is lacking and I lost my old account due to a dodgy hack. Don’t worry, though, I created a new Facebook account and you’re welcome to befriend me there. I also enjoy hanging out on the Mini Myths Discord server.
This blog is free. Woohoo – no paywalls. But! If you’re feeling especially generous I am accepting tips via Ko-fi.
Alrighty!
Share your battle reports!
That’s right I’m crowdsourcing your stories from the battlefield. Please do send me your best gameplay photos and commentary. I’m interested in everything from BattleTech: Alpha Strike to Zona Alfa. Let’s celebrate hobby together!
Pariah Nexus Dust Off review
In the lead-up to Arcfest, 11 players recently competed in three matched play rounds of Warhammer 40K 10th edition – 1,350 points – at Guf Werribee.
“Playing with Arc's point limits and communicating from the get-go that the event was all about getting us back up-to-speed were real game-changers for running the event,” said Chaedi, the host and organiser of Pariah Nexus Dust Off in partnership with Mini Myths.
“Having a 40k event feel casual is real hard to achieve, but this time we made that happen and I'm proud to have given multiple players a good first-time tournament experience.”

Q: What was your most valuable unit?
A: The whole list really worked quite well together but the hammer of it was the Kasrkin, three squads of them – two with Castellans and one with Ursula Creed, they all loaded up in Taurox transports which are insanely cheap.
The unit blocks are 230 or 240 points (110 Kasrkin, 55 or 65 for characters, and 65 for the taurox transports) for a very killy, very mobile hammer that can move 12 + d6" disembark and hose units with plasma and bulk AP1 shots, hitting on 2s with the Castellans providing exploding 6s all with a +1 to wound after disembarking and with several options to get back in on the opponents' turn if they try and charge you or leave you alone.
Q: Any memorable gaming moments?
A: Having my Rogal Dorn commander finish off a Death Guard Predator with a melee attack before having another Predator charge it and finish it off in melee as well was pretty funny.
I will never tire of watching Kasrkin work, jumping out of a truck next to some chaos marines standing on an objective giving them full re-rolls to hit and wound and having seven plasma shots kill eight marines will always be so satisfying
The first two games were against the two lists I was afraid of versing as they both had a lot of flamers and being able to use the massive speed advantage to outscore and out-manoeuvre felt really good.
Q: What did you think of the event overall?
A: It was a lot of fun. I didn't think I'd enjoy the 1,350-point count as much as I did. I still prefer 2k but its a good level for quicker games. A lot of newer and returning players and everyone I interacted with were great sports. It innately is fun to win when you feel like you earned it but even more so when the games were all pretty close affairs.
The event was well organised and the vibes were good so what more can you ask for!
