Thanks Ben, Ri and Mark for being great sports at today’s Star Wars: Shatterpoint event in Coburg North.
Shoutout to the community at The Gaming Arena for the incredible culture and Bam at Mini Myths for running yet another fantastic event.
Here’s a brief look at how it went.
Ben’s bounty bonanza
So it turns out Grievous does not command the greatest droid army in the galaxy …
My list for round one:
General Grievous
Kraken, Super Tactical Droid
B2 Battle Droids
Asajj Ventress, Sith Assassin
Kalani, Super Tactical Droid
B1 Battle Droids

As you can see those murder specialists excelled at their job inflicting a total of five wounds.
In his debut performance, the general met the enemy head-on but that didn’t quite go as planned. The ol ‘Leeroy Jenkins’ approach left him vulnerable to a coordinated beating on multiple fronts.
The play of the match, at least for me, was Ventress kiting to the middle and using a free Force action to push a bounty hunter off an objective. That was cool.
Next time I face these fellas in battle I’ll be sure to maintain a safe distance but also hug line-of-sight blocking terrain where practical to deny sneaky ranged attacks.
And yeah, maybe orchestrate a better offensive with Grievous and the gang.
Ri dominated the tabletop and the mini painting
This match demonstrated brilliant droid synergy but it wasn’t enough to win those struggles.
My list for round two:
General Grievous
Kraken, Super Tactical Droid
B2 Battle Droids
Lord Maul
Gar Saxon, Merciless Commander
Mandalorian Super Commandos

Those tactical droids are awesome when they can issue orders to other droids to blast away with those five-dice attacks in addition to their own moving and shooting. I enjoyed a particular activation where the B2s were laying down the pew-pew and caused a little carnage.
Ri’s revenge was swift and precise. That was my quickest game of Shatterpoint, haha, and it was awesome.
That was tense from start to finish, Mark
We got to use my ‘Never Tell Me The Odds’ mission pack and that made for an epic battle.
My list for round three:
Lord Maul
Gar Saxon, Merciless Commander
Mandalorian Super Commandos
Ahsoka Tano, Jedi No More
Bo-Katan Kryze
Clan Kryze Mandalorians

Sorry for the lack of variety with these images. Mark and I were having a fantastic time and the dynamic of this scenario had us constantly on edge. At every turn it felt like it could go either way.
During the first few activations of the first struggle I held three of the four objectives and everything was looking great. That, of course, was about to change (haha).
There was a massive pile-in at the central objective but by over-committing so early in the game there my right flank on the ground was exposed. Vader punched Ahsoka in the face and took one of my home objectives and spent the rest of the game intimidating anyone else from trying to take it back.
Remember to check your conditions! Poor Maul could’ve rushed to meet Vader – if only he wasn’t pinned.
The other swinging factor was the mission which Mark did an amazing job of ‘Challenging the Odds’.
That was so much fun.
Everyone’s a winner
There was a little something for everybody in the end. I walked away with a TIE Fighter, tokens and a big smile.
I’m pleased to report that the youngest player – Liam (9) – was awarded the rifle.
If you want a fun, cinematic, objectives-based tabletop miniatures game with blasters and lightsabers that is guaranteed not to take any longer than two hours per bout, give Shatterpoint a go.
