Road to ArcFest 2025 | Part 1
Monthly Shatterpoint, Infinity TAG tier list, WARSURGE racing and more
G’day! Welcome to Glancing Hit, a blog dedicated to tabletop wargaming, hobby and all things adjacent.
Are you painting anything interesting? I’m curious to see what others are working on. If you’re gearing up for ArcFest I want to hear all about.
This week I’ve started my ArcFest project, a Plague Marines Kill Team.
I was originally going to paint these fellas in my standard vectorium colour scheme (green with brass trim) but I might attempt a variation of Pallid Hand (filthy bone).
Alrighty, on to the news!
Quarmageddon snaps
Bam has shared a selection of photos taken at the recent Quar event. I’ve shown my appreciation with a little donation via Ko-fi. I encourage others to show Mini Myths some love in the form of cash money.
Star Wars: Shatterpoint at The Gaming Arena
Almost there!
This Sunday why not throw down for an epic showdown with the friendliest bunch of Star Wars enthusiasts you’ll ever meet?
For more upcoming events visit the Victorian Wargaming Calendar.
A full-grim Fulgrim is on the way
Cultists of Slaanesh are rejoicing as the Emperor’s Children will soon have its very own codex.
I look forward to a Mortarion-versus-Fulgrim deathmatch. This is an open invitation to a Warhammer 40K battle of epic primarch proportions.
Does this upcoming release spark joy? I know I’m excited.

Infinity – N5 TAG tier list
The Loss of Lieutenant podcast, which is an essential watch/listen for Infinity fans, has released a breakdown of the best, worst and mediocre Tactical Armoured Gear (TAG) options available in the game right now.
Be sure to follow them:
Warlord Games announcement
I like a fun Weird War and this exciting update reveals that a Red Alert 2 alternate history wargame is dropping later this year.
Meanwhile, I’ve heard there’s a Great Britain army book due to go on pre-order soon for Bolt Action.
Mario Kart Super Model Race – WARSURGE
The kids wanted to play a game and I thought why not simulate Mario Kart for the tabletop?
Better yet, the lovely team at WARSURGE have done all the preparation with their special scenario rules, Super Model Race.

It’s quick to set up thanks to the example racer profiles. But you are not limited to those options.
The beauty about using the WARSURGE rules is you can use the free app to create whatever you like. There is a points system to balance your whacky wheels and the scenario does specify a points limit and restriction on specific perks to ensure fair and entertaining races.
Within minutes we plonked some terrain on the table, grabbed my Death Guard vehicles and away we went.
In our first race – a tense but not too serious one-on-one – my daughter out-lapped me with a banana, stickybomb and earthquakes.
You see, those skull objective markers represent the random items you can collect in your travels. You roll a D12 and refer to the table to see what you unlock – all that classic Nintendo stuff from explosive shells to rocket boosters to mega stars are there.
What makes this especially exciting for the kids is that there are rules for wipeouts and spinouts so you might get unlucky but you’ll never be taken out of the race – unless you opt for the death race rules …
Our second race had three players and it was even more chaotic!
Next time we play, though, we’ll revert to smaller vehicles as you do need a lot of room to jink and weave around the track.
Tempted by Bloodbowl
Last time I played I fumbled the ball and tripped over – and that was before we even started rolling the dice!
Ha!
There is talk of a Bloodbowl league forming at Guf Werribee (approx. late May, June …) and I am intrigued.
That’s not to say I’m committing to anything; I don’t own any suitable models. But! I am tempted …
Do you play Bloodbowl? What would you say to twist my arm?
7TV – Night Terrors
If you like narrative skirmish games (simulating a TV show on the tabletop) this might be of interest
Cast Dice recently interviewed the team at Crooked Dice and Edge Hill University about the latest 7TV expansion which is inspired by cosmic horror media (X-Files, Stranger Things etc.).
In related news, Crooked Dice are finally bringing other classic Doctors, including Peter Davison’s fifth incarnation, to the tabletop. While metal cast minis are being prepared for Salute, I understand the .STLs will be available online via MyMiniFactory in a few weeks.
More Hobby Homies goodness
Catch the latest Hobby Homies podcast which is rather self-reflective.
Another stellar battle report.
